What is SLES
Among the most effective anionic surfactants is sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES 70%). Cleans well, emulsifies well, wets well, and foams well. It is stable in hard water, dissolves easily in water, and is compatible with various surfactants. Low in skin and eye irritation, it is biodegradable.
The detergency, emulsification, and foaming properties of SLES 70% (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate) are remarkable. It also helps with disinfection, emulsification, dispersion, wetting, solubilizing performance, foaming, and is resistant to hard water. Benefits include excellent biodegradability, good compatibility with other substances, resistance to hard water, and a thickening effect. Low toxicity; won’t hurt your eyes or skin.
SLES is commonly found in liquid detergents including those used for washing dishes, hands, hair, and bubble baths. They are a partial replacement for LABSA, a phosphate that can be saved or reduced, and are used in high-capacity washing powders and detergents.
Useful as a lubricant, dyeing agent, cleanser, foaming agent, and degreasing agent in the textile, printing and dying, petroleum, and leather industries.
Application of SLES
Dishwashing detergent, shampoo, shower gel, soap, and other cleaning cosmetics all include sodium Laureth sulfate (SLES) in their liquid formulations. It’s also used in particularly powerful laundry detergents and powders.
SLES also has several applications beyond the textile industry, including the printing, dyeing, oil, and leather sectors. It plays an important role as a dyeing agent, lubricant, cleanser, foaming agent, and degreasing agent in these industries, among others.
