The HI84502-50 is a 230 mL bottle of alkaline titrant solution that is used for low and high range determinations of acidity in wine. The HI84502 mini titrator is designed to determine the acidity of wine by potentiometric titration in both a low range (0.1 to 5.0 g/L of tartaric acid) and high range (4.0 to 25.0 g/L of tartaric acid). Total acidity for both ranges is measured on a degassed sample of wine to a fixed endpoint of pH 8.20.The determination of total acids in wine is made according to a neutralization reaction, that is the reaction between the acids found in wine and a base. Total acidity, also referred to as titratable acidity, is the sum of the fixed and volatile acids. In the United States, the total acidity of wine is usually expressed in terms of tartaric acid, even though the other acids are measured.Total acidity directly affects the color and flavor of wine and, depending on the style of the wine, is sought in a perfect balance with the sweet and bitter sensations of other components. Too much acidity makes wine tart and sharp; too little makes wines flat and uninteresting. Proper acidity in wine is what makes it refreshing and an ideal accompaniment to food.Replacement reagents required to operate the HI84502 include:

HI7061L General Purpose Cleaning Solution (500 mL)

61.00 AED
HI7061L is a general purpose cleaning solution that can be used for a variety of applications. Electrodes can become dirty from use and will produce inaccurate results even as they read correctly in a pH buffer. Hanna’s cleaning solutions eliminate impurities and residues that are left on electrode surfaces when immersed in samples during measurement or when stored incorrectly. Hanna suggests cleaning the bulb and junction of your electrode on a regular basis to ensure that the probe is always clean and to prevent any clogging of the junction.
  • Specially formulated for cleaning electrodes
  • Air tight seal to ensure quality
  • Expiration date and lot number

HI70300L Electrode Storage Solution (500 mL)

59.00 AED
HI70300L is a storage solution prepared with reagent grade chemicals that can be used to ensure optimum performance of your pH and ORP electrodes. It is necessary to store a pH electrode in a solution in order to keep the glass membrane of the pH electrode hydrated. Ideally a storage solution should be used; never store an electrode in distilled or deionized water. The Hanna Instruments storage solution is specifically formulated to minimize microbial growth and to prevent any effects of diffusion/osmotic from storing a probe in a solution with the highly concentrated inner reference electrolyte. Storing your pH and/or ORP electrodes in a storage solution will also keep the junction clear. Maintaining the hydrated layer and clear junction will help to ensure a fast and reliable measurement. In the case of cleaning your pH electrode in one of our cleaning solutions, we recommend soaking the electrode in the HI70300L storage solution for at least one hour before taking measurements.
  • Special formulation to minimize microbial growth and osmotic/diffusion effects between the solution and inner reference electrolyte
  • Manufactured specifically for pH and ORP electrodes
  • Clearly marked expiration date and lot number
