The HI729 Checker® HC (Handheld Colorimeter) provides a simple, accurate and cost-effective way to measure fluoride.

Fluoride is one of the few chemicals that have been shown to cause significant effects in people through drinking water. Fluoride has beneficial effects on teeth at low concentrations in drinking water, but excessive exposure to fluoride in drinking water, or in combination with exposure to fluoride from other sources, can give rise to a number of adverse effects.

Water fluoridation is the controlled addition of fluoride to a public water supply to reduce tooth decay. Fluoridated water operates on tooth surfaces: in the mouth, it creates low levels of fluoride in saliva, which reduces the rate at which tooth enamel demineralizes and increases the rate at which it remineralizes in the early stages of cavities. A 1994 World Health Organization expert committee suggested a level of fluoride from 0.5 to 1.0 mg/L, depending on climate. Bottled water typically has unknown fluoride levels, and some domestic water filters remove some or all fluoride.

The HI729 Checker® is simple to use. For this measurement you need 2 vials (#1 and #2); 2 mL of reagent is added in both vials. Deionized water is then added to vial #1 while the sample to be tested is added to vial #2. Both vials are then gently inverted 5 times, and wait 2 minutes. Cuvette #1 is then inserted into the HI729 Checker® and the button pressed to zero; after that, insert cuvette #2 to take a measurement.

HI12883 pH/EC/TDS Multiparameter Probe with Quick Connect DIN Connector

583 AED
The HI12883 is a 3-in-1 pre-amplified multiparameter probe that measures pH, EC/TDS, and temperature within a single polypropylene body. The pH portion of this probe is constructed with a cloth junction, maintenance free polymer gel electrolyte, and a low temperature glass sensing bulb. The EC/TDS portion of this probe utilizes two graphite sensors for an amperometric determination of conductivity and total dissolved solids. A built-in temperature sensor ensures that both pH and EC/TDS readings are compensated for temperature variations in both standards and samples. The design consideration for the HI12883 is ideal for measuring the pH, EC/TDS, and temperature in greenhouses, hydroponics, environmental monitoring, water treatment, wastewater treatemnt and boilers and cooling towers. The HI12883 is designed for use with Hanna’s HI991300 and HI991301 portable multiparameter meters.
